Fairbanks, Frost and Lowe, Fine Jewelers & Goldsmiths and MaineGems.com is owned and operated
by the Eggleston brothers, Matt & Jason.

Matt and Jason have been in the jewelry business since the late 1980’s. Jason started with King’s jewelry of New Castle, Pennsylvania in 1988.  Matt followed Jason into the jewelry industry one year later.

Jason was soon promoted to manager of the Camp Hill, Pennsylvania store.  Matt became manager of the Nittany Mall King's in State College, Pennsylvania in 1990.

Matt left King's in 1992 to work at a small independent jeweler in State College. At this small jeweler, Matt learned the fine art of goldsmithing.

Jason continued with King’s.  He became well-versed in the business side of the jewelry industry.  Jason was conferred the title of Certified Store Manager by the Jewelers' Certification Council.

Matt was contracted in May 1994 to come to Freeport and direct the opening of a new jewelry store.
On July 1, 1994, Fairbanks, Frost & Lowe opened at 21 Main Street, Freeport, Maine.
Matt became a partner in the business three months later.

Jason became Matt's equal partner in August of 1995.  Jason moved his family to Maine in January of 1996.

The store's specialty quickly became Maine gems, with an emphasis on fine grade Maine Tourmaline and Maine Amethyst from the now famous 4th of July Amethyst discovery.

In January of 1999, the store became a part of cyberspace with the creation of MaineGems.com.  In an effort to maintain contact with customers, MaineGems.com was developed to serve as the store's virtual catalog.

The stone-set jewelry featured on this website was assembled in the shop here in Freeport.  Most every jewelry need can be satisfied, just give a call or drop an e-mail.  The store is open 361-days-a-year.
Our store is open Monday through Saturday from 10:00am until 6:00pm, and from Noon until 5:00pm on Sundays.
